Laura Rickard, M.S., CCC-SLP
Owner of Speech Pathways and AAC, Speech-Language Pathologist
Laura is a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) with 18 years of experience in the field. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association. After earning her Master of Science degree from Ithaca College, she started her career in the suburbs of Boston working with children with very complex communication needs. This is where her passion for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and helping children "find the pathway to their words" began. In 2010, she returned home to New York's Capital Region, where she had served as a school-based speech-language pathologist for 11 years. Her love for and experience with AAC continued to grow during her tenure as a school-based SLP, but in addition, she gained valuable experience providing therapy to children with a wide variety of communication needs, including those with mild to moderate articulation, phonological, language, and social communication disorders.
Laura launched her private practice in the fall of 2022, where she provided in-home speech-language therapy, as well as school consultation and training in the area of AAC. She is excited to announce the opening of her clinical office space in the East Greenbush, NY area starting in September 2025. Laura believes strongly that all individuals deserve a voice, and she is committed to helping them do just that in a child-centered, child-led, fun, and motivating way!
